On December 1, 2006 five tornadoes formed over Pennsylvania as an unseasonably warm and powerful low-pressure area moved through. One man was killed when a tree fell on his car during the tornado near Halifax; these are the only December tornadoes ever recorded in the state of Pennsylvania.
